High Touch is a Wichita, Kansas-based, employee-owned technology solutions company founded in 1984. In 1976, Wichita State Professor Ted Cary left his teaching career and founded a custom programming business. With the growth of the business former students Dave Glover and Mark Lenz joined the company with each offering a unique contribution—Ted’s business acumen, Dave’s ability to drill down to an accurate solution, and Mark’s finesse—the founders formed High Touch, Inc. The name ‘High Touch’ comes from the #1 New York Times bestseller “Megatrends” written by John Naisbitt. The concept of high touch refers to the role technology plays in our daily lives.
High Touch founders created what is known today as Cynergi|Suite, the leading store management system used predominately in rent-to-own (RTO) businesses. Known in the early 1970s as PROMS, High Touch differed from other businesses because it sold not only the product, but the service. The founders were selling what we know today as the Software as a Service concept.
Over the years, High Touch experienced steady growth in the RTO industry and in the mid-nineties, the owners made a strategic decision to explore the development of other markets and products. Soon thereafter, the company added managed services, software solutions, and web development to its product offerings. In 2008, High Touch acquired RTO software competitor RSSS, Rental & Sales Software Systems, a Corpus Christi-based company, and thereby expanded its influence in the RTO sector. In early 2010, to broaden its solutions environment and geographic footprint, High Touch purchased IT Pros, a managed services and retail computer store and technology services provider based in Kansas City. That same year, High Touch acquired Attain Technologies a Denver, Colorado-based IT consulting firm providing IT business support and specialized unified communications. The following year, High Touch added to its complement of products and services by acquiring NewBase, a Digital Marketing Company based in Wichita, KS, and UniComData, a Dallas-based managed IT service provider that specializes in cloud computing and collocation services.
Today, High Touch Technologies has offices in Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Corpus Christi, TX, and in Kansas City and Wichita, KS. It serves clients in all 50 states and in seven countries worldwide. High Touch has nearly 200 employees across its geographic locations.
