Meet Mike!

Mike’s been driving his career since the ripe old age of nine.

“My first job was on my dad’s farm at nine years old, driving a semi in the hayfields and stacking hay.” However many years later (we won’t tell), Mike is still driving, but now it’s customer success rather than a semi loaded with hay.

Mike TorgersonAs Customer Support Manager for High Touch’s Rent-to-Own (RTO) Software team, Mike has been a High Touch employee since 2007. With the amount of experience Mike has, he’s frequently called on to do several different jobs, ranging from support to engineering. At the end of the day, it all comes down to supporting our clients, supporting his team, and supporting the enterprise in any way he can.

What Does a Customer Support Manager Do?

As a Customer Support Manager, Mike ensures that High Touch’s RTO Software Customers receive A+ support above anything else. How does he know what A+ support looks like? Funny enough, Mike used to be a client before joining the High Touch team.

“I’m motivated to be successful by my unique experience,” states Mike. “I remember all the days I needed support and how fast I received it. I want to deliver that same type of experience every time for every client.”

To provide that 5-star support experience, Mike leads a team of 12 RTO Customer Support Technicians. “It’s part of my job to make sure they get the training and have the tools they need to support our customers and to better themselves for future opportunities.” Additionally, with his years of knowledge and experience in the RTO space, Mike occasionally gets called on to help as Project Engineer. In fact, he’s currently involved in helping convert 51 stores to High Touch’s cynergi|suite software, which is a cloud-based point-of-sale platform for stores that track, sell, rent, or take payments on inventory.

Working in Technology

“I love to work in technology because all the favorite aspects of my job really resonate with me,” states Mike. “I like to solve issues and remove pain points. Working in technology and customer support, I get to figure out and discover solutions to challenges every day.”

For Mike, solving problems and tough challenges are what keeps him logging in for work every day. Before the coronavirus pandemic transitioned us to a work from home environment, Mike worked on our Remote team. “Being a remote worker, some days wearing real clothes instead of pajamas can feel awkward when you’ve been doing it as long as I have,” Mike laughs.

To get his job done, Mike hones in on his personal experiences as a client, project engineer, and support technician. “My favorite aspect of my job is illuminating the pain points for our clients and the Support team. When I discover these pain points, we can save our clients hours of time by introducing new tools provided by our software,” Mike explains. “In fact, by implementing cynergi|suite, one client was able to shave hundreds of hours away from their processes—completing the project and helping that client achieve those results was incredible.”

Maintaining a Work-Life Balance

When he’s not leading the Customer Support team, Mike volunteers as his city’s Youth Sports Director and as his church’s Technology Specialist. He has two dogs, two kids, and a keen interest in precious metals.
