About Rotary International
Rotary International is an expansive global organization made up of over 1.2 million members. According to Rotary’s website, the organization’s mission is to, “Provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.”
What Is a Rotary District Governor?
An organization with 1.2 million people is overwhelming to manage. To carry out its mission effectively, Rotary structures its members within clubs primarily based on geographic location. District 5710 covers approximately the eastern one-third of Kansas and is comprised of 44 clubs with over 2,200 members.
Each year, the clubs that reside within a district nominate a new District Governor. Then, club members within the district vote to elect a new District Governor at the annual District Conference. The District Governor is responsible for managing the Rotary activities, mission, and goals in the district.
