Microsoft has published a lifecycle roadmap for Dynamics GP, underscoring their commitment to supporting the software through 2028 and beyond.

Older versions of Microsoft Dynamics GP, including GP 2013, GP 2013 R2, GP 2015, GP 2015 R2, GP 2016, GP2016 R2, GP 2018, and GP 2018 R2, will be subject to Microsoft’s Fixed Lifecycle Policy, which includes defined end of mainstream support and end of extended support dates. Microsoft has decided to govern the current version of Microsoft Dynamics GP using the Modern Lifecycle Policy, ensuring this version of the ERP software continues to receive updates and support through 2028 and beyond.

Here, we’ll outline everything you need to know about the Microsoft GP roadmap, lifecycles, and upgrades.

What Is Microsoft’s Fixed Lifecycle Policy?

Customers using Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 or 2018R2 and older have versions of the software subject to Microsoft’s Fixed Lifecycle policy. According to this policy, each version of Microsoft Dynamics GP has a specific end of mainstream support date and end of extended support dates.

Mainstream support

During the mainstream support phase, Microsoft continues to provide full support for the product, including requests to change product design and features, security updates, and non-security updates.

Extended support

The extended support phase of a product’s lifecycle begins when the mainstream support phase ends. During this phase of the Dynamics GP lifecycle, Microsoft provides limited support, such as security and critical non-security updates. Microsoft will no longer consider product design and feature requests.

All-inclusive Dynamics GP updates

Microsoft will keep this version of Microsoft Dynamics GP current by offering three all-inclusive updates throughout the year. The annual October update includes new features and hotfixes. The yearly June and December updates include tax updates, regulatory updates, and hotfixes.
