Friends University Cybersecurity TrainingOn the heels of cybersecurity month, members from High Touch’s IT Solutions and Software Solutions teams attended an advanced cybersecurity training session at the state-of-the-art Friends University cybersecurity lab on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

The 8-hour training was focused around Kali Linux, an open-sourced cybersecurity project that specializes in information security training, offensive security, and penetration testing services.

Cybersecurity Tools and Software

During the training, High Touch’s engineers had the hands-on opportunity to explore advanced cybersecurity tools. The training examined common cybersecurity issues and vulnerabilities, including:

  • Information gathering
  • Server hijacking
  • Malicious PDFs
  • Searching for exploits
  • Website spoofing
  • Password cracking

At the root of the training, the engineers learned how to account for the most vulnerable piece in any network: the people using it. Learning how to use the tools, as well as teaching others cybersecurity best practices, is key to network safety and security.
