Who knew that the Spice Girls could be the gateway to a career as a software?

For Enoch, developing software allows him to tap into the creative side of his brain. “My first coding project as a child was a Spice Girls fighting game—never completed,” he laughs. “It was then that I discovered how technology enables our creativity. This career exercises our creativity daily. Maybe someday, I’ll finish that game.”

Designing and Coding Solutions for Clients

As a Senior Software Developer, Enoch helps develop the custom software and mobile applications that help solve whatever challenges our clients have. High Touch’s Custom Software teams build everything from full-scale software applications to integrations and mobile apps—in a nutshell, if a client has a business need, our team dreams up a way to solve it with software. “My team is thoughtful and talented, and our solutions allow us to lift even more — it’s fun and challenging.”

Enoch Jennison

Creating custom software and mobile applications for customers takes an exceptional level of ingenuity and grit, which Enoch has been working on since he was 11. “Less than a dozen years into my life, I delivered newspapers. From bullies to dog attacks to monotony, I have plenty of stories to share.”

In his roughly four years at High Touch, Enoch’s favorite project has been working on a Warehouse Management System for Rent A Wheel/Rent-A-Tire. “I helped with the mobile development from start to finish. We listened to the customer’s needs, exchanged ideas over wireframes, and got them a handheld tool for pushing product to the consumer. It was empowering, and I look forward to expanding its capabilities.”

How Does a Software Developer Stay Motivated?

For Enoch, it’s the moment when the thing you’ve been building finally works as you want it to. “There’s a lot of planning, building, and rework needed when building software, but that moment of achievement seems to drive me,” states Enoch. “As much as we may try, we can’t escape being ourselves. The alternative is to embrace that and bring ourselves to our customers. This requires authenticity, confidence, and humility. I don’t have to know everything because I can learn.”

With that curiosity and thirst to learn, if he could try out any other job at High Touch, it’d be network engineering. “High Touch does a lot of work setting up networks for businesses of all sizes,” Enoch states. “It would be interesting to have that experience, doing the literal wiring.”

Outside of High Touch, Things Are “Nice”

At home, it’s a full house for Enoch. “Beyond three kids and a dog, we just adopted another dog. It’s amazing how many animals you can fit on one couch.”

When in doubt, ask Enoch about arcades, taprooms, or even music—he’s been avidly tracking his audio habits on Last.fm for the past 15 years, and as you expect, he has statistics ready to show you.

15 Things You Might Not Know About Enoch Jennison

As part of our Employee Spotlight interview, we ask a series of lighthearted questions to highlight the unique, diverse personalities that make our High Touch team great. Hear him out, a game where you terraform land as a beaver sounds kind of cool and maybe a little less terrifying than a bat/octopus combo named Ferris.

If you could move to any other High Touch market, which one would you choose?

I’d choose Denver. It would be nice to get some occasional altitude.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

If the sandwich status gets the hot dog additional rights, then I’m all for it.

Who or where would you haunt if you were a ghost?

There’s probably an arcade or taproom here in Wichita that could use my services.

What was your first job?

Less than a dozen years into my life, I delivered newspapers. From bullies to dog attacks to monotony, there are stories.

Does a cyclops wink or blink?

Just like all of us, it depends on the situation, sorry.

What’s your favorite mobile app or website?

I’ve been tracking my audio habits for over 15 years now on Last.fm. Any application that provides personal statistics gets a 👍 from me.

Do you have any pets or kids?

Beyond three kids and a dog, my wife and I just adopted another dog last week. It’s amazing how many animals you can fit on one couch.

Do you do any volunteer or community service work?

Not presently—I used to do poll working; maybe I’ll do that again someday. But that paid money, so it probably doesn’t count either.

What’s the most awkward thing you do on a regular basis?

I respond with “nice” too much, even when it’s not appropriate. That can get very awkward. Not very authentic.

What’s your spirit animal and why?

I’ve been captivated by the beaver lately, with its ability to terraform dry spaces. I’ve been thinking about how to develop a game from this.

If you could breed two different animals together, which two would you pick, and what would you call the new lifeform you’ve created?

Hrm, probably like a bat and an octopus. It would be terrifying and maybe lovable. I would call him Ferris.

Would you rather go 30 days without your phone, or three months with no dessert?

Fasting from the phone sounds fair.

Do you have any superstitions?

I try to name all horrible things that could happen so that they won’t.

If you had a warning label, what would it say?

Tumble dry low.

You’ve been given an elephant. You can’t give it away or sell it. What would you do with the elephant?

It seems a suitable habitat is in order.

Bringing the Human Touch to Technology.
