July 30, 2012
Wichita, Kan. — High Touch Technologies will award its third annual Management Information Systems Scholarship in a ceremony at its corporate offices on Friday, August 3rd. The $10,000 gift, earmarked for a WSU student, will be given to junior Erica Millspaugh of Wichita.
“Receipt of this scholarship feels like a validation of my endeavors to date,” said Millspaugh. “I am a full-time college student, I participate in various business groups on campus, and I work a combined 50-60 hours per week at a job and an internship. The Scholarship offers obvious financial relief. Receipt of the scholarship from professionals in my chosen field offers encouragement as I pursue my own future. I am honored to receive this scholarship and I plan to show my gratitude through continued hard work.”
The High Touch Ted Cary Memorial Scholarship is awarded a WSU junior or senior majoring in Management Information Systems. Millspaugh was selected from a large pool of candidates and was invited to return along with three other candidates to give a presentation, which was followed by an interview.
According to Wayne Chambers, CEO High Touch Technologies, “This partnership between the WSU MIS discipline and High Touch is a great opportunity to showcase Wichita as a leader in technology-related education and careers.” We are delighted with the selection of Ms. Millspaugh as our scholarship recipient, and were very impressed with the quality of all the candidates,” he added.
The reception presentation will include remarks from High Touch CEO Wayne Chambers and High Touch founding partner Dave Glover, Doug Hensler, Dean, W. Frank Barton School of Business, and from scholarship-recipient Millspaugh.
High Touch established the Scholarship to recognize co-founders and former WSU graduates, Dave Glover, (’75), and Mark Lenz, (’78). Included in this year’s scholarship ceremony will be a special announcement in memoriam of Ted Cary, another High Touch co-founder.
