Wichita, Kan – (February 2, 2022) – Stacy Root, Director of Development – RTO Software, has been recently recognized by the Wichita Business Journal (WBJ) as part of their Women Who Lead on Board of Directors series. The Women Who Lead on Boards of Directors series highlights women in Wichita who serve on boards of directors, exploring why they choose to serve and offering advice for volunteering on boards.
“Giving back to the community is something I value. In serving on a board, I know I can help provide children and young adults with opportunities that they may not have had access to otherwise.”
In addition to her day-to-day duties leading High Touch’s RTO Software Development team, Stacy serves on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland. “I like to be involved in boards that help benefit kids and young adults, using my skills to encourage young women to get into IT and technology careers,” states Stacy. “You can do your best work when it’s something that gets you excited; for me, it’s kids and IT.”
Serving on a Board
Stacy attributes much of her success to the work ethic she learned from growing up on a Kansas farm. After starting her career at Wal-Mart, she moved back to Kansas after her first daughter was born. Previously, she has also served on the board for Children First: CEO Kansas, Inc.
In the article, Stacy offers advice for volunteering your time and finding a board of directors to serve on. “Focus on your personal experiences and passions—your enthusiasm will carry over to your volunteer work,” she states. “Also, spread the word that you’re open to volunteering—if you let people know you’re looking for opportunities, they’ll have you in mind when they hear about new board placements.”
Congratulations, Stacy!
We’re incredibly thankful and proud of Stacy’s leadership, both in the community and at High Touch.
