What Does a Project Engineer I Really Do?

Alan Stiles

As a High Touch employee-owner since 2009, Alan has worked on countless projects during his tenure. When asked about his favorite project or aspect of the job, he can’t help but smile.

“I’ve worked on so many projects during my 13 years at High Touch that it’s tough to choose just one,” states Alan. “I would say my favorites usually involve collaborative efforts where I get to work alongside my many wonderful coworkers to satisfy our clients’ major needs.”

As Alan points out, he loves being a part of a team that delivers exceptional results to clients—it’s the perfect mix of challenge, creativity, and teamwork.

Alan’s love for technology goes beyond his professional work as a Project Engineer at High Touch. In fact, he finds technology to be fascinating precisely because of its ever-changing nature.

“I feel like that tends to keep my interest with my dog-like attention span,” he jokes.

In addition to holding his interest, Alan appreciates technology as something that makes our lives easier, more exciting, and more fun. “It also allows us to complain about our relatives on social media, which is nice,” he adds with a grin.

Finding a Career in Technology

Finding a career in technology can be a rewarding and challenging experience. For Alan, his motivation to succeed in the industry comes from a combination of factors.

“I’ve always taken pride in any work I produce, and I’ve always been a people-pleaser,” states Alan. “This combo has been a great motivator for me to not only produce my best work but also ensure that our clients are satisfied with the end result.”

Alan’s experience highlights the importance of finding a career that aligns with your values and motivators. In the fast-paced world of technology, the drive to learn, improve, and provide value to clients can be the key to success.

9 Things You Might Not Know About Alan Stiles

'Is a hot dog a sandwich' question and responseAs part of our Employee Spotlight interview, we ask a series of lighthearted questions to highlight the unique, diverse personalities that make our High Touch team great. The real question, though, that Alan raises—if a cyclops needed corrective lenses, would it use glasses or a monocle?

1. What’s something you wish you could automate?

Putting dishes in the dishwasher and then turning it on.

2. Is a hot dog a sandwich?

This question is too next-level for me. I’m still stuck on whether the meat part is called a weenie or a hot dog.

3. Does a cyclops wink or blink?

I can’t think of a scenario where a cyclops would be flirtations, so I guess blink. Also, when a cyclops needs corrective lenses, would it still use glasses or just a monocle? That would be one fancy-looking cyclops.

4. Do you have any pets or kids?

I thought those two words were interchangeable—leashes and training are involved either way.

5. What’s your spirit animal, and why?

It’s a Patronus, and my Patronus would ironically be a Dementor.

6. If you could breed two different animals together, which two would you pick, and what would you call the new lifeform you’ve created?

I would actually breed three: a duck, a chicken, and a turkey. It’d be way easier to make a turducken that way.

7. Would you rather go 30 days without your phone or three months with no dessert?

I can easily go without dessert, but I can’t go without my phone. How else am I going to DoorDash all of my desserts that I need and can’t go without?

8. Do you have any superstitions?

I don’t believe in superstitions. In fact, I have a lucky turducken foot that I keep on my key chain that keeps superstitions away.

9. If you had a warning label, what would it say?

Warning: High In Sass
