Keeping the Books (and Laughs) Balanced

If you spend five minutes with LaCynda Brumbaugh, you’ll quickly realize she’s the kind of person who keeps both spreadsheets and spirits in perfect balance. With her signature dry humor, quick wit, and coffee in hand, LaCynda has a knack for making even accounting sound entertaining, which, according to her, is no small feat.

“I don’t know if there’s a way to make accounting look cool,” she admits with a laugh. “But someone has to make sure the numbers behave.”

Behind her modesty, though, is someone whose consistency and precision help keep High Touch Technologies running smoothly. From month-end reconciliations to year-end audits, LaCynda’s meticulous attention to detail ensures the company’s financial picture stays clean, accurate, and audit-ready.

Keep reading to learn how she brings her caffeine-fueled, sarcastically human touch to technology every day.

Digging Into Life in the Accounting Trenches

As our Senior Accountant, LaCynda plays a vital behind-the-scenes role that affects nearly every corner of our business.

“My job is to help with month-end and year-end closings by keeping the financials clean and audit-ready,” she explains. “I make sure revenue, expenses, and inventory all line up. Basically, I help keep the daily transactions flowing so my boss can stay focused on the bigger picture.”

LaCynda’s role requires both discipline and adaptability: two qualities that have defined her journey at High Touch. Over the years, LaCynda has worn several hats, starting in accounting, dipping her toes into payroll, then working under HR on administrative audits and reporting.

In 2025, she transitioned back to her accounting roots, and it’s clear that she’s found her rhythm again. “Although it’s not glamorous, I find that working in the accounting trenches is what I enjoy,” she says. “It’s satisfying when everything adds up and falls into place—that’s when you know you’ve done your job right.”

Mastering the Art of Consistency

In her role, LaCynda finds excitement in perfecting the small things that make a big impact. “My favorite part of my job is finding better, simpler, and more consistent ways to handle our everyday work,” she explains. “Consistency might not sound glamorous, but it’s the backbone of accurate financials.”

True to her self-proclaimed “work smarter, not harder” mentality, LaCynda approaches each task like a puzzle waiting to be solved—quite literally. Every morning starts with the New York Times Games, where she warms up her brain with Wordle, Connections, or the Mini Crossword before diving into spreadsheets. “It’s my way of getting the problem-solving gears turning before the day starts,” she laughs.

That same mindset defines her approach to accounting. “I take pride in being part of what keeps our team moving smoothly—meeting deadlines, catching the details, and making sure everything adds up.”

It’s that steady reliability that embodies High Touch’s value of being steady under pressure. Accounting might not involve flashy presentations or new product launches, but LaCynda’s work ensures that everything else the company does (from client projects to payroll) runs without a hitch.

Finding Her Place in Technology

Given that High Touch is a technology company, it’s natural to wonder how a seasoned accountant fits into that world. LaCynda is the first to set the record straight. “I picked accounting, not technology,” she quips. “I can navigate the tech I need, but calling me if your computer breaks would be a terrible idea.”

She laughs before adding, “However, if you need help with a spreadsheet or balance sheet, I’ve got you covered. I always joke that working at High Touch doesn’t mean I can fix your computer—just like working at a hospital doesn’t make me a brain surgeon.”

Her honesty and humor capture exactly what makes her such an integral part of the team. While she may not be configuring servers or coding software, she brings her own kind of logic to the company’s vision of bringing the human touch to technology.

“My human touch,” she says, “is fueled by caffeine, sarcasm, and occasionally singing and dancing around my desk when no one’s watching.”

Life Outside the Ledger

Outside of work, LaCynda keeps life just as full and lighthearted. Her first job was at Osco Drug — “For you youngsters,” she jokes, “that was basically Walgreens before Walgreens.”

At home, LaCynda enjoys spending time with family, including her husband, three daughters (“I know, I look way too young to have kids in their twenties,” she says with a grin), and dog, Bennett, who’s affectionately known as Benadoodle, Doodle Butt, Buford, or Durpy Boy, depending on the day.

Drive time. I wish I could just teleport where I need to go and not waste time driving.

Adam Sandler—it would be chill, he would make me laugh, and I wouldn’t need to dress up. And, who knows, we could become friends, then he would cast me in his movies.

Small talk—I tend to be a wee bit sarcastic, which doesn’t always land well.
