As Controller, Molly Taiclet helps manage the Accounting department at High Touch, handling everything from paying the bills to invoicing customers and preparing financial statements.
“I get to wear many different hats, but at the end of the day, I pretty much handle anything that deals with the company’s assets—I even got to try out being somewhat of a used car saleswoman this past week,” she laughs. “I don’t think a full-time career selling cars is in my future.”
What’s Life as a Controller Like at High Touch?
Molly’s been handling money since her first job working in the drive-thru at Wendy’s, albeit serving as Controller for a technology company looks very different than getting a handful of change for a burger.
After obtaining a degree in business administration and accounting from Drury University, Molly’s career took her to Koch Industries and Bunting Magnetics before joining the High Touch team in 2021.
“I was at a point in my career where I could keep doing the same old thing until I retired or get energized by a new challenge—I opted for the challenge and something new,” states Molly. “Taking chaos and making order out of it is kind of my specialty. During my day, I get to work with a lot of different people internally, helping them do just that.”
Love What You Do, and You’ll Never Work a Day in Your Life
Some may think the world of balance sheets, ledgers, and process improvement is boring, but for Molly, she couldn’t imagine herself doing anything else. “I know what I’m good at, and this is the right spot for me. I enjoy working on accounting processes and streamlining workflows to help make our jobs more consistent and efficient.” Molly states. “There’s always more to do!”
When she’s not busy with work, Molly likes to relax by whipping up a sweet snack, and since she can’t share all the baked goods with her 2-year-old grandson quite yet, her coworkers get to reap the sweet benefits. “Baking is my stress relief, and I enjoy sharing the fruits of my labor. Plus, when I bring them into work, I don’t eat them all myself,” she laughs.
