Recognizing Excellence: The Youth of the Year Program

For decades, the Youth of the Year program has been the premier leadership recognition initiative of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. This program honors outstanding Club members who exemplify leadership, academic excellence, and service to their communities. Winners progress through local, state, and regional competitions, ultimately vying for the title of National Youth of the Year, which comes with a prestigious $50,000 scholarship.

At this year’s event, Khaai Wilson, a senior at Wichita Heights High School, was named the 2025 Youth of the Year for the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas. In recognition of his hard work and dedication, he was awarded a $1,750 scholarship and will represent South Central Kansas at the state competition on March 11 in Topeka.
