Wichita, Kan. — (November 20, 2020) — Nici Duncan, Vice President of Human Resources, has been honored by the Wichita Business Journal (WBJ) as an outstanding leader in HR as part of their Women Who Lead series.

“When It Comes to Leadership, I Am Passionate About Empowering People”

Nici and HR found each other in college, and it was love at first sight. “I didn’t specifically seek out a career in HR, but it found me while I was in college—I enrolled in an HR class, and everything just began to click. Nici DuncanSince then, I’ve been laser-focused on growing and developing my strategic HR expertise so that I could add value in any industry.”

Following college, Nici started her career in an entry-level position in HR at Ditch Witch. “It worked out well for me as I started in that role only a few months before the economy picked up post the 2002-2003 downturn. So, I was immediately thrust into a recruiting role where I had to sink or swim,” states Nici. “I continued to expand my scope, taking on roles in various human resources disciplines, which presented the opportunity to build and lead the first Corporate Human Resource Team for Charles Machine Works.”

Leadership in HR

For Nici, the responsibility of leadership is enabling, empowering, and coaching others. “I also believe that to be a great leader, you must be humble and curious about others,” states Nici. “Having the opportunity to watch someone else succeed, knowing the impact I may have had, however large or small, is simply rewarding.”

Nici’s role at High Touch requires her to support the company, its leaders, and its employees, providing a strategic partnership between all parties to ensure its success. “Business is never black and white, often presenting in gray, so finding that sweet spot where we can all be successful keeps me energized,” states Nici. Additionally, being accessible and available to provide mentorship is an essential aspect of leadership for Nici.

Congratulations, Nici!

Nici didn’t specifically seek out a career in HR, but we’re sure glad they found each other! Thank you, Nici, for everything you do.
